Instrumental Idiosyncrasies

Duration: 5:30
Program Notes: “Instrumental Idiosyncrasies” is a cartoon-inspired piece that showcases different personalities within an ensemble. Each performer has their own unique personality trait that bleeds into their performance. With each trait, there is a musical quirk showcased in their playing. Performers tap into their given quirks and create a comedic bit. The performers give each other sass when their personalities clash, despite trying to get along for the sake of the ensemble.
The personality traits and musical quirks are as follows: The conductor is the boss who keeps the ensemble in time and personalities in check. The flutist is the incorrectly confident diva who is bad at playing rhythms in time. The clarinetist is quirky and cooperative, playing upbeat, cute melodies. The violinist is sassy and has a more aggravated playing style. The cellist is the airhead of the group, playing bouncy ricochet techniques like glissando and pizzicato. The pianist is the supportive jazzy powerhouse that backs the ensemble with the chord structure. The percussionist is in their own world and doesn't know how to properly match style/genre all the time, therefore making them sound out of character.
